GautengOnline has provided Prospectus Novus School with a laboratory, assistive hardware and enabling software for all learners with special education and needs.  The design and rollout of GautengOnline assistive technologies to schools which provide educational services to learners with educational needs, was confirmed by three separate government initiatives:

  • The roll-out is driven by E-learning framework approved by the Provincial Cabinet, which committed the Provincial Government to provide a standardised, fit-to-purpose ICT technology for all learners in Gauteng public schools.
  • The White Paper on E-Education which committed central Government to ensure that “Every South African learner in the GET and FET bands will be ICT capable.
  • White paper 6 on Inclusion, which committed Provincial Education Departments to strengthen existing special needs schools so they can serve as resource centres for other schools as they persue inclusion policies.

GautengOnline e-Learning Outcomes are:

  • Use and maintain ICT in an appropriate, effective, efficient, ethical and responsible manner
  • Collaborate with others when using ICT
  • Locate and evaluate information using ICT
  • Process data using ICT; solve problems using ICT
  • Communicate and present information using ICT

GautengOnline at Prospectus Novus School is available to all staff members and learners.

GautengOnline het Prospectus Novus Skool voorsien van ‘n rekenaarsentrum, ondersteunende hardeware en sagteware vir leerders met spesiale behoeftes.  Die uitleg en die oprigting van die laboratorium, wat opvoedkundige dienste aan LSEN leerders bied, was in ooreenstemming met drie inisiatiewe:

  • Die daarstelling van die sentrum is gedryf deur die E-leer (elektroniese leer) raamwerk wat goedgekeur is deur die provinsiale kabinet.  Hulle oogmerk was om gestandardiseerde ICT (Informasie en Kommunikasie Tegnologie) beskikbaar te stel aan al die publieke skole.
  • White Paper 6 oor E-leer wat ten doel het dat elke Suid-Afrikaanse leerder blootstelling moet kry aan Informasie en Kommunikasie Tegnologie.
  • White Paper 6 oor inklusie, waar die Provinsiale Onderwysdepartemente die spesiale behoeftes in LSEN skole aanspreek en waar van die skole dan kan optree as hulpsentrums vir ander skole vir die implementering van inklusie.

GautengOnline E-leersentrums se doelwitte is:

Die gebruik en onderhoud van ICT in ‘n gepaste, effektiewe, etiese en verantwoordelike manier.

  • Samewerking met ander wanneer ICT gebruik word.
  • Die lokalisering en evaluering van informasie m.b.v. ICT
  • Die prosessering van data en die oplos van probleme deur gebruik te maak van ICT
