The Occupational Therapy Department at Prospectus Novus School aims to add quality of life to learners with specific learning disabilities (ADHD/ADD, developmental delays) as well as learners who fall on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Our team of highly motivated Occupational Therapists are committed to assist/support learners as well as staff (educators and class assistants) and family members with skills to help learners to overcome barriers to learning.

Our Activities

Our activities include:

  1. Individual and group therapy sessions.
  2. Parent guidance (as/when needed).
  3. Classroom intervention/strategies.
  4. Record keeping and updating individual learner support plans.
  5. Issuing, care, and monitoring of assistive devices.
  6. School Based Support meetings (as/when needed).
  7. In-service training and continuous professional development.
  8. Involvement in school activities

The abovementioned activities are guided and regulated by the GDE SIAS policy as well as the HPCSA scope of practice for Occupational Therapists.

Die Arbeidsterapie-afdeling by Prospectus Novus Skool het ten doel om lewenskwaliteit by leerders met spesifieke leergestremdhede (ADHD/ADD, ontwikkelingsagterstande) sowel as leerders wat op die Outistiese Spektrumversteuring val, toe te voeg. Ons span hoogs gemotiveerde Arbeidsterapeute is daartoe verbind om leerders sowel as personeel (opvoeders en klasassistente) en familielede by te staan/ondersteun met vaardighede om leerders te help om leerhindernisse te oorkom.

Ons Aktiwiteite

Ons aktiwiteite sluit in:

  1. Individuele en groepterapiesessies.
  2. Ouerleiding (soos/wanneer nodig).
  3. Klaskamerintervensie/strategieë.
  4. Rekordhouding en opdatering van individuele leerderondersteuningsplanne.
  5. Uitreiking, versorging, en monitering van hulpmiddels.
  6. Skoolgebaseerde Ondersteuningsvergaderings (soos/wanneer nodig).
  7. Indiensopleiding en deurlopende professionele ontwikkeling.
  8. Betrokkenheid by skoolaktiwiteite

Die bogenoemde aktiwiteite word gelei en gereguleer deur die DBO SIAS-beleid sowel as die Gesondheidsberoeperaad van Suid-Afrika (HPCSA) vir Arbeidsterapeute.
