Information: Referrals/application to Special Schools
It is important to note which learners are / are not referred to our school:
- SLD – Specific Learning Disability – ADD, ADHD, Autism – Prospectus Novus learners
- MID – Mild Intellectual Disability – NOT Prospectus Novus learners
- SID – Severe Intellectual Disability – NOT Prospectus Novus learners
- PID – Profound Intellectual Disability – NOT Prospectus Novus learners
Admission Procedure
The following procedure needs to be followed for admission to specialized education.
Please note that admissions to a Special School is a District managed and driven process. In order to adhere to policy, Prospectus Novus School cannot accept any direct referrals from schools or private applications from parents.
The process can be summarized as follows:
- The learner’s current school/nursery school should complete a SNA 1, 2 & 3 referral form requesting help from district and possible special school placement. [ View Support Needs Assessment (SNA) in PDF format ]
- The SNA form, together with all supporting documents (e.g. school reports, reports from educational psychologists/speech therapists etc.) should be sent by the school to their specific district office, e.g. Tshwane South, Tshwane West, Tshwane North.
- All referrals are screened and/or assessed by the district office and learners are given a LSEN number.
- Only after a learner has received a LSEN number, indicating that the learner has specific learning difficulties, the referrals can be sent to Prospectus Novus School (via the district offices).
- No learner will be allowed admission before the DBE 123b approval document is signed by Head Office. Even if admission of your child was approved in principle by all parties at school and District level, approval of Head Office will finalise the process.
- All enquiries should be directed to district officials and district offices.

Toelatingsprosedure
Die volgende prosedure moet gevolg word vir toelating tot gespesialiseerde onderwys.
Let asseblief daarop dat toelatings tot ’n Spesiale Skool ’n proses is wat deur die distrik bestuur en gedryf word. Om aan die beleid te voldoen, kan Prospectus Novus Skool geen direkte verwysings van skole of privaat aansoeke van ouers aanvaar nie.
Die proses kan soos volg opgesom word:
- Die leerder se huidige skool/kleuterskool moet ’n SNA 1, 2 en 3 verwysingsvorm voltooi wat hulp van die distrik en moontlike spesiale skoolplasing versoek. [ Lees die Ondersteuningsbehoeftebepalingsvorm (SNA) in PDF-formaat ]
- Die SNA-vorm, tesame met alle ondersteunende dokumente (bv. skoolrapporte, verslae van opvoedkundige sielkundiges/spraakterapeute, ens.) moet deur die skool na hul spesifieke distrikskantoor gestuur word, bv. Tshwane-Suid, Tshwane-Wes, Tshwane-Noord.
- Alle verwysings word deur die distrikskantoor gekeur en/of beoordeel en leerders kry ’n LSEN-nommer.
- Slegs nadat ’n leerder ’n LSEN-nommer ontvang het, wat aandui dat die leerder spesifieke leerprobleme het, kan die verwysings na Prospectus Novus Skool gestuur word (via die distrikskantore).
- Geen leerder sal toegelaat word voordat die DBE 123b-goedkeuringsdokument deur die Hoofkantoor onderteken is nie. Selfs al is die toelating van u kind in beginsel deur alle partye op skool- en distriksvlak goedgekeur, sal goedkeuring van die Hoofkantoor die proses finaliseer.
- Alle navrae moet aan distriksamptenare en distrikskantore gerig word.

Notas
- Jy moet die distrikskantoor (DBO) in die gebied waar jy woon, kontak.
Onthou asseblief om die distriksbeampte se e-posadres aan te vra om die aansoek op te volg.
